What You Don’t Know is Causing You Harm

WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW IS CAUSING YOU HARM

How do you answer these questions?

  • How often do you have cold extremities?  Cold hands, cold feet? 

  • Do you wear socks to bed?  Do you overlayer hands and feet all the time?

  • Do you wear neoprene diving booties for your feet when using cold?

  • Do you understand what the heck you are doing when you are at the “spa”?

  • Do you have night sweats… or does your partner?

  • Are you clammy and cold at the same time?

These questions are just the tip of the “iceburg” that many of my clients and customers vocalize concerns.  They want to understand and they want to repair these concerns. They want to do it without taking a friggin pharmaceutical tablet, Pill or injection.   You can counter the typical  “white coat remedy” for the sake of your own health. Something  that you yourself can fix. The “white coats” see your health as being medicated to repair your entire being without allowing you to prevent illnesses naturally.  Sad state of current health care. 

Depending on where you are in life at present.  Depending on your lifespan and your healthspan parameters, you may already be on five, ten, a dozen medications, each one a requirement because once that trajectory is chosen by the white coats, your battles are far tougher.

STOP giving away your health power. START understanding the body’s processes.  This is the gift of knowledge I am sharing with you in these blogs. 


So, the million dollar answer to the million dollar question.  What is the issue?  What is the cause of most illnesses today that we are now seeing in the younger generation, and the aging people? Answer:

VASCULAR WEAKNESS  

This is unacceptable.  This is outrageous.  Those in the “health” field should be teaching the broad public natural health prevention and resilience.  But, I have had many doctors, surgeons, nurses, pharmaceutical reps and others who have come in for my one:one coaching, all of them never understanding the biological process of what it means to be natural.  To trust our vessel and to alter lifestyles that suit our biology.

You are asking, “How is this possible?”   I know.   


Before now, you simply didn’t know that there is an answer to most, if not all of human biological ailments.  You simply lack vasoconstriction (about 95% of people never get enough, or at all), and lack the wise use of vasodilation. But there is more, obviously.  Toxin loading with fake foods, processed foods, and a mountain of other toxic causing vices at our disposal.  The conveniences that destroy humans.

I know. I have been there.


WHERE DOES CONTRAST THERAPY COME INTO ALL THIS?


Estimation of 98% or more of you who use contrast therapy perform it like this:   

  •  hot tubs, hot waters, steam rooms… and never touch cold water, ice baths, or even cold showers. Tsk tsk.   You are causing way more damage to your thermostat and internal systems that you don’t realize.

  • Have fears about using cold - even cold showers

  • Do many rounds or cycles  -  there are few benefits to this, but for the mass majority of you, this type of protocol is more damaging. But this is typically way too much for the body.

We will discuss protocols and how in future blogs in this series.  For now, I simply want to add these issues to this blog


WHAT IS THE BIGGEST ILLNESS IN HUMANS TODAY?

Most everyone does not understand thermoregulation, or that we have a thermoregulatory system that is vital to how we live, and how our cellular health and vascular health function or fail.   The number one killing disease today… Metabolic Dysfunction.  This is the combined symptoms of all the illnesses of origin.   Including some DNA hand me downs… AND…  This means it is lifestyle causing.   Vascular weakness causes so many problems in so many systems.  

VASCULAR ANATOMY 101   -  CRUCIAL KNOWLEDGE

The simplest way to explain the vascular complexity within us is this.  We all have veins, arteries and capillaries throughout our body. The length of the system if stretched out in one length would be so vast it could wrap around earth. The vascular system is made up of involuntary smooth muscle.  Did you catch the key words??  INVOLUNTARY and MUSCLE.

ALL muscles in the body must be exercised.  How do we exercise the vascular system? Vasoconstriction and vasodilation, with more emphasis on the former, the one action all of you almost never provide the human vessel.

VASOCONSTRICTION = Ice baths, cold water immersion, cold showers, ice bucket work

VASODILATION = dry saunas or natural hot springs (limiting time in natural hot waters)

THE THERMOREGULATORY SYSTEM


Now that you know you have this system.  (Your thermostat), you need to understand some components to help make more sense of this.

  • Hypothalamus - central regulation  - receives signals from thermoreceptors

  • Thermoreceptors - body (skin) -   triggering internal systems, collection/ recording of data for internal system activation

HERE IS WHAT HAPPENS:

When your body is in the heat or cold, (extreme temperatures), your skin triggers receptors, called Thermoreceptors.  Your body wants to adapt to cooling or heating itself, and  has the ability to quickly move your core temperature to homeostatic balance of temperature.  So, during a heat wave, your body wants to cool so as not to over heat, preventing hyperthermia, and in winter it wants to warm, so as not to go into hypothermia.  

But, most people are way off thermal balance with the inability to regulate temperature. People are way over layering and not protecting the head.  The world  has created many illness names  for dysregulation issues these days.  By not understanding the malfunction of the thermoregulatory system, humans are making matters worse by using  “bandaid solutions” or wrong remedies.   


FYI - FACTOID:

When you are cold, you require cold to warm you up - VASOCONSTRICTION.  And you do not require a sauna or artificial heat to ice bathe, cold shower, or sit in a cold creek, river or stream.

When you are hot, over sweaty, cannot bring your basal temperature down - VASODILATION is required to help drive that internal temperature baseline down.  


A KEY UNDERSTANDING TO THE POINT ABOVE

Our bodies tell us so much.  The body speaks to us, and tells us what we need.  But, you are not understanding what the body is saying.  This is a sad disconnection.  Once you understand the needs of your body you can provide the right dose of the necessity to bring balance. 

WHERE DO I COME IN?

This is what I teach you in coaching sessions.  I help you navigate the temperatures here at Element Outdoor Sauna. With correct understanding and knowledge, you will be equipped with the know how.

NOTE: Executing the process of CONTRAST THERAPY is widely used today.  BUT most everyone performs it poorly, as well as  inconsistently.  Consistency is crucial.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ELEMENT OUTDOOR SAUNA vs MOST SPAS?

SPAS:

  1. You are typically on your own.  Left to do whatever you want, whatever you feel or deem you should do moving about the temperatures.

  2. There is no or limited or misinformed guidance.

  3. Your time spent in heat is way off and often too long.  Damages occur.

  4. People become sick from too much heat - over heated, over stressed in a detrimental way. Especially in  hot waters, steam rooms, hot tubs, infrared saunas 

  5. Tons of chemicals in the waters - chlorine is a neurotoxin

  6. You have to be clothed.  This is restrictive to your thermoreceptors when they are doing the work. (nudeness with towel wrapping if you feel better is best).   7. Lacking consistency of practice and lack of habituation

  8. Highly chemicalized pieces 

  9. Offering food, meals, and alcohol.  For those places that do not: they lack in post care letting you leave without explanation of “After drop” or Thermogenesis.

  10. THE MOST IMPORTANT:   Lack of support system to promote consistency.  To understand contrast therapy, is not just the action of performing sauna or ice bathing, it is the consciousness and consistency of non-isolated exposure.
